We are over the moon to announce we’ve been featured in Living Oxfordshire!
Oxfordshire is having a bit of a moment and we couldn’t be more pleased that our home county is getting all of the attention it so rightly deserves. Our ethical dark chocolate is featured in the beautiful write up, Hester interviews our founder Catrin Burr, to find out what it was like to launch Aurosó amidst the start of the pandemic and why Catrin decided to make her own RaiseTrade, additive free, reduced sugar chocolate.
Aurosó chocolate was born through Catrin giving up eating sugar to focus on her health and being disappointed at the lack of low sugar chocolate on offer. We proudly use Chocolat Madagascar, one of the freshest and ethical couvertures in the world and this comes through in the taste of Aurosó chocolate so no soy lecithin or additives are needed – it is naturally fruity and sweet.
We source the best ingredients locally and further afield to deliver those oh-so moreish flavour combinations and Hester picks up on this when discussing our Honey chocolates. Honey is a brilliant sweet alternative to cane sugar and we want everyone to know it! Our Honey chocolates use Honey’s of Henley Spring Honey where the bees feast on cherry blossom and wild plums delivering an extra sweet honey. We use this honey in small doses (a little goes a long way) and paired with our dark 90% RaiseTrade bon bons the result is just heavenly.
“I strongly believe that food shouldn’t have added preservatives, synthetic laboratory sweetness or soy lecithin.”
Never afraid to shy away from the bigger picture Hester also probes us on our sustainability credentials and the steps we take as a small business. We strive to use plastic alternatives and recyclable packaging in all of our business to minimise waste and ensure we work towards a plastic free life.
Finally, Aurosó chocolate wouldn’t be as successful today if our customers weren’t enthusiastically buying our products. We faced lockdowns head on and our wonderful customers continued to find escapism in our chocolate treats so thank you for this!
We have had a wonderful first year and grown as a family with a large number of local stockists now under our belt. Keen to continue our presence locally we have popped up at Wallingford Local Producers Market, Henley Farmers market, Wicked Chocolate Tasting, Caversham Artisan Farmers Market and English Farm.
Huge thank you to Hester for the wonderful feature in a local publication that celebrates all of Oxfordshire’s brilliant talent in all its glory. We can’t wait for you to see what we have in store for you next.
